Siile Matela read for his first two degrees;
B.Proc and LLB, at the University of the Witwatersrand,
Johannesburg. His third degree, an LLM in Public
Law, was obtained from the University of South Africa.
Mr. Matela’s professional interest areas include
Personal Injury, Property, Constitutional and Administrative
law, Family law, Legislative Drafting, aspects of
Labour law and Commercial Contracts. He remembers
with fondness his role as one of the midwives to
the new dispensation when South Africans of all
races voted together for the first time six years
before the end of the last century. He is involved
in the firm’s Civil Litigation Department
in all courts. Mr. Matela has also lectured Law
at Vista University’s Bloemfontein and Soweto
Campuses where he taught Municipal Law, Constitutional
and Administrative Law as well as Interpretation
of Statutes. He still has a strong academic streak
in him and has published works on Language in Court
and the Constitutional Court. He was a member of
the International Society of Family Law for three
years and retains his links with many academics
that have often referred work intended for publication
to him as a referee.Particularly passionate about
interior designing and decorating, he shares the
firm’s challenging Human Resources portfolio
with Mr. Sibanyoni.
